- Your pension: From April 2030 the state pension rises by the highest of inflation, 2.5%, or enough to keep pace with earnings measured from that date. Earnings still count, but over years rather than annually. Nothing changes before the election.
- Your care bill: Direct care costs would be covered, but accommodation in a residential or nursing home would not. So the family home is not fully protected under what has been announced so far.
- Borrowing: Gilt yields eased to 5.38% overnight, the first fall this week, after the thirty-year American equivalent hit its highest since 2004. Gilt yields set the benchmark for fixed mortgage pricing.
