A Child Is Killed as Kyiv Is Struck for a Fourth Night
A missile and drone attack on the capital and the surrounding region killed three people overnight, one of them a child, and injured seven more. Fires took hold in private houses, a store and a warehouse in Kyiv itself. “Sadly, the body of a child has been found under the rubble,” said the regional governor Tymur Tkachenko. “This is a terrible tragedy.”
Rescue workers pulled three people from a destroyed house in Vyshhorod, north of the capital, one of them a child in shock, a man with shrapnel wounds to the head and a woman with a leg injury. It is the fourth consecutive night the capital has been hit, and the mayor Vitali Klitschko reported fires across several districts. Two of the dead and four of the injured were in the capital itself, according to its military administration, with the child and three more injured in the surrounding region. Romania and Poland both scrambled jets to guard their airspace. The diplomacy has not moved at all: the three-way technical talks Washington proposed still have no date six days after Kyiv said it was waiting for one, with the United Arab Emirates floated as the venue.
