Russian bombs kill 29 at Ukrainian aid centre
At least 29 people were killed and 48 remain missing after at least nine 3,000kg aerial bombs struck a school used as an aid centre in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia, regional officials said on Tuesday. President Zelensky called the attack “utterly horrific”, saying a second strike hit the place where survivors had sheltered. Washington has announced new peace talks for 10 and 11 November.
The attack came as fighting resumed in Kherson after a six-day humanitarian truce, the longest of the full-scale war, which allowed hundreds of people trapped in occupied Oleshky to be evacuated. Ukraine’s General Staff said “the enemy used the humanitarian pause to set up their positions”; Dmitry Peskov replied that it was “reasonable to assume” Ukraine had regrouped too. Zelensky said the strike showed Moscow did not want de-escalation. The Russian military has not commented.
