Police Question a Reform Mayor Over Images Shown to a Colleague

Luke Campbell, the Reform mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire, was questioned under caution by Humberside Police this month over allegedly showing a senior female colleague four naked and sexualised images of himself in May. He has not been arrested. The party says he “firmly denies the allegations”, calling them a “meritless workplace dispute”.

The complainant’s witness statement, submitted to an internal grievance procedure at the combined authority, says she was “deliberately exposed to naked and sexualised images involving the mayor in the workplace, without my consent, and was laughed at when I was visibly embarrassed”, and that “this was unwanted conduct of a sexual nature which violated my dignity”. She says a permanent job offer she had accepted was withdrawn on a video call about three weeks later. The combined authority has confirmed a police investigation. Two cautions. The reporting rests on a single title working from leaked internal documents, and neither the police nor Mr Campbell had commented. And there is a factual dispute inside it: a former Conservative minister who is now a Reform member defended him by saying the image was a magazine cover of him posing naked from the waist up, which the reporting says is contradicted by witnesses who describe a naked man with a visible tattoo that does not appear on that cover. This is a separate matter from the documentary.
