US and China Agree Tariff Cuts on $60bn of Goods
Washington and Beijing have agreed to cut tariffs on $60 billion of goods, from coal to toys, deepening efforts to stabilise the relationship. China will trim duties on American agricultural produce; America will cut tariffs on toys, small appliances and other items.

A White House official said the cuts could apply to as much as 30% of American exports to China. The deal lands alongside awkward disclosures: the ambassador in Beijing, David Perdue, said the president had asked Xi Jinping whether China would like to buy American arms — an offer that, if consummated, would upend generations of policy towards China and Taiwan.
