Five Arrested at RAF Fairford Released on Police Bail
Five British nationals arrested on suspicion of terror offences near the American-used base have been released on bail. “Following extensive interviews, and inquiries, the five men who were arrested are being released on police bail this afternoon,” said Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, head of counter-terrorism policing.

Police said the alleged offences could have been “actively committed by proxies or individuals either knowingly or unknowingly working on behalf of a foreign state”. Suspected explosives were found near the base, which has been used for American strikes on Iranian missile sites. Iran has denied any role. The foreign-state line of inquiry makes this a question for ministers as much as for the police.
