Baby S Murder Trial Set for April 2027; All Five Defendants Remanded
A judge at Sheffield Crown Court fixed a trial of six to seven weeks from 12 April 2027 for the four Slovakian nationals charged with murdering the newborn known as Baby S, found in an outbuilding in Wincobank with 33 wounds from 15 stabbings. All four are further charged with causing or allowing her death and with cleaning the scene to pervert the course of justice. A 15-year-old girl, charged with the cover-up, was remanded to youth custody; the next hearing is 2 October.
The procedural machinery has now done what it exists to do — converted horror into a timetable — and the shape of the prosecution is visible in the charge sheet’s three layers: murder for the act, causing-or-allowing for the household, concealment for the aftermath, a structure built so that silence between defendants cannot defeat the case. Seven security staff and two interpreters flanking the dock hints at the trial to come: four adults and a child, one family among them, each with separate counsel and increasingly separate interests as April approaches. The eighteen-month wait is ordinary for a case of this gravity and will feel extraordinary to everyone touched by it.
