The strike on the Egyptian-owned Tihamah — in which a second missile hit rescuers responding to the first — marked the first deadly attack on mariners since the conflict began, and has rattled an industry that carries much of the world’s trade through the Bab al-Mandeb strait. With the Strait of Hormuz still contested to the north, two of the globe’s most important maritime chokepoints are now under threat at once.
