Thailand has suffered several mass shootings in recent years, including a massacre at a nursery in 2022, prompting soul-searching over the ready availability of guns and the strains on mental health. The latest attack, striking a school, will renew calls for tighter controls in a country awash with firearms. Police were working to establish the motive and how the teenager obtained his weapon. The toll remained provisional as the injured were treated. Watch for the authorities’ account of how the attack unfolded and any move on gun laws.
