Six Killed in Overnight Russian Strikes on Ukraine
Russian strikes killed at least six people across Ukraine overnight, three in the Kharkiv region and three in Sumy, officials said, in the latest wave of a relentless bombardment. It followed one of the deadliest attacks on Kyiv in months a day earlier. Russia claimed to have shot down hundreds of Ukrainian drones as Kyiv presses its own strikes deep into Russian territory.
The overnight deaths added to a mounting civilian toll that President Zelensky says shows Russia is deliberately targeting the population to break Ukrainian morale. He has pleaded with Western allies for more interceptors and tougher sanctions, warning that his cities remain exposed. Ukraine, for its part, has stepped up attacks on Russian shipping and infrastructure, seeking to raise the cost of the war for Moscow. Each side’s claims about the strikes and interceptions could not be independently verified. With diplomacy stalled, the air war is only intensifying. Watch whether Western air-defence supplies speed up.
