Russian Strike on Kyiv Kills Nine, Traps Residents

A Russian barrage of missiles and drones struck the Ukrainian capital overnight, partially collapsing a residential building and trapping people inside, officials said. At least nine people were killed and more than twenty-five wounded, among them teenage boys, as rescuers searched the rubble into the morning. Fires burned across several districts of the city.

The strike was among the deadliest on Kyiv in weeks and came as Ukraine pressed its Western allies for more air defences to shield its cities from Russia’s nightly assaults.
