Netanyahu and Trump Hold ‘Productive’ Talks on Iran
President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu held about ninety minutes of talks at the White House, their first meeting since the war with Iran, which both sides called productive. Iran dominated the agenda, alongside Lebanon and the prospect of normalising relations with Arab states. In a barbed aside beforehand, Mr Trump said he did not need Mr Netanyahu “for intel” on Iran’s nuclear sites.
Mr Netanyahu, on his seventh White House visit and travelling amid reported Iranian threats, called the meeting “very good and very positive”, though no concrete agreement was announced. Mr Trump’s public jab — criticising the Israeli leader for openly discussing activity at the fortified “Pickaxe Mountain” site — hinted at friction over how to handle Tehran during the fragile pause in fighting. The two also discussed the disarmament of Hezbollah and the plan for an international force in Gaza. Protesters shadowed Mr Netanyahu’s motorcade.
