US Strikes Iran for a Ninth Night as Third American Dies

US Central Command struck Iran for a ninth consecutive night, hitting Revolutionary Guard air defences, missile stores and coastal surveillance sites it says threaten Hormuz shipping. The attacks followed confirmation that a third American service member had been killed since Friday — two in an Iranian missile strike on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan and one in northern Iraq. Seventeen US personnel have now died in the war, with more than 430 wounded.

Central Command said the strikes were “designed to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish” Guard forces. President Trump insisted: “We’re never allowing Iran to have a nuclear weapon.” Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned that Washington had “unforgettable lessons” in store, calling Mr Trump’s signature on last month’s memorandum “utterly worthless”. The month-old ceasefire has collapsed into open, nightly exchanges. Watch whether a tenth night follows and whether Gulf states are dragged deeper in.
