US Bombs Iran for an Eighth Night to “Punish” the Revolutionary Guard
American forces struck Iran for an eighth consecutive night into Sunday, hitting coastal surveillance, air-defence and missile-storage sites at Sirik, Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas and near Shadegan. Central Command said the raids were designed to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten Hormuz shipping and to “swiftly punish” the Revolutionary Guard units behind Friday’s deadly attack on a US base in Jordan. Iranian media reported that a desalination plant was destroyed, cutting water to some 10,000 people.
Correspondents in Tehran say the campaign is systematically isolating Iran’s oil-rich south from the rest of the country, with bridges, railways and airports destroyed and hospitals evacuated. Washington frames the targets as military logistics; Tehran and rights observers say civilian infrastructure is bearing the brunt. The commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, Major-General Ali Abdullahi, warned that “any aggression or barbarism will be met with a decisive and devastating response”, calling the United States “the Great Satan”. With more than 50,000 American troops across the region and Iran vowing to hold the strait, the nightly rhythm shows no sign of breaking.
