Iran Hits a Kuwait Plant Again as Bahrain Sirens Wail
Iran pressed its Gulf retaliation on Sunday, launching a large drone attack on two US facilities in Kuwait and striking again the Kuwaiti power-and-water plant hit the previous day, restarting a fire. Bahrain sounded air-raid sirens for a sixth time in hours. The Revolutionary Guard said it had downed a US MQ-9 drone over Ahvaz and warned that vessels defying its Hormuz rules would “certainly face accidents”.
The repeated hits on Kuwaiti water and power plants are turning civilian utilities into front lines and stoking fears of a humanitarian crisis across the Gulf’s desalination-dependent states. The Guard’s blunt warning to shipping — after claiming two vessels had “ignored” its warnings and suffered “an accident” — signals that Tehran intends to enforce its declared closure of the strait by force. Kuwait said its air defences were “confronting hostile missile and drone attacks”.
