American forces struck Iran for a second consecutive night — more than 170 targets over two days, from Bushehr and Bandar Abbas to the ocean port of Chabahar — and Iran answered with missiles and drones at US bases across four countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Jordan. Jordan said it intercepted eight incoming missiles; falling debris wounded one person in Kuwait. At least 14 Iranians have been killed. The exchange has widened the war’s geography without yet deepening its toll: Iran’s reprisals reached Jordanian airspace and the Gulf monarchies that host American power, but the interceptions held and no US personnel deaths have been reported — a calibrated round rather than a headlong plunge. Trump has floated reimposing a naval blockade and even striking Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil-export terminal, which would require a far larger operation. Britain’s own forces sit inside the target map, at the naval base in Bahrain and the air hub in Qatar.
