Monaco Bomb Suspect Named as Ukrainian Woman on the Run
Monaco prosecutors identified Anastasiia Berezovska, a 39-year-old Ukrainian national, as the prime suspect in Monday’s parcel bombing that targeted a wealthy Ukrainian businessman, issuing an international arrest warrant and an Interpol red notice. Investigators believe she has fled to Germany. Prosecutors are treating the attack, which wounded three people in the principality, as attempted murder.
The case cuts into the world of wartime émigré wealth on the Riviera: Monaco has drawn substantial Ukrainian money since 2022, and a bombing aimed at a businessman inside the principality — allegedly by a compatriot — raises uncomfortable questions about feuds following that money west. A cross-border manhunt into Germany now tests Europe’s police-cooperation machinery in a jurisdiction better known for discretion than for violence. Watch for an arrest, for what prosecutors eventually say about motive, and for whether the case touches the businessman’s commercial interests back in Ukraine.
