Trump Cabinet to Meet at Camp David Wednesday; Rubio — Deal “Still Possible”
President Donald Trump and his entire Cabinet will meet at Camp David tomorrow, a White House official said today, with the Iran negotiations the central agenda item. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said today that a deal with Iran remained within reach despite the overnight US Central Command strikes on IRGC mine-laying boats and a Bandar Abbas surface-to-air missile site. Rubio repeated the US position that the Strait of Hormuz must be opened. President Trump in a separate Truth Social post said negotiations were “proceeding nicely”, but added: “It will only be a Great Deal for all, or no Deal at all.”
The Camp David meeting is the most operationally significant Cabinet convocation since the war began on 28 February. It comes 24 hours after the CENTCOM strikes and on the same day Iran’s top negotiating delegation arrived in Doha. Rubio also pushed for an expanded set of countries to join the Abraham Accords once a broader regional agreement is secured, encouraging Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt and Jordan to consider joining — the most explicit US-side signal yet that the post-war regional architecture will be built around Abraham Accords expansion. The US blockade of Iranian ports remains in place; CENTCOM has redirected 100 commercial vessels and disabled four since the blockade began on 13 April.
